"Walk him along, John carry him along..."

The Foggy Bottom Morris Men regret to inform the world of the passing of the great Pete Brown. Just after midnight on December 4, 2009, Pete left this earth to join the morris team in the sky (?), where we assume Nick Robertshaw was waiting for him.

Pete had been a longtime member of the Foggy Bottom Morris Men and was a former member of the Swindon Morris Men in Wiltshire, England. As well as being a dancer, Pete, age 54, was an accomplished singer, musician and song-writer. He will be sorely missed by his family, friends and teammates.

There was a memorial celebration to honor Pete's life on Sunday afternoon, January 3rd, 2010 at McGinty's Pub in Silver Spring, MD at which many of the morris community sang, danced and shared stories in his honor.

If you have memories to share, please consider contributing thoughts or pictures to the memorial site his family has set up.

In 2007, we lost an irreplaceable and irresistable force of nature on our team. On 29 October, Nick moved on to the Next Rotation while on business in California. A memorial service was held on 8 November to celebrate Nick's rich life.

To this day, and likely for the far future, "Big Nick" Robertshaw's influence still pervades so much of what the Foggs dance, sing and even play musically. From developing our passion for border-style morris to sharing his amazing concertina skills and writing songs we can't publish in public (and some we can), Nick's wicked sense of humor, warmth and consummate morris style (if there is such a thing!) inspired us all.

If you have memories to share, or want to be reminded of some, please visit and consider contributing thoughts or pictures to the Remembering Big Nick Wikisite.
